Sparks are set to fly in Chennai as the city prepares to host India’s first-ever night street race as part of the Indian Racing Festival (IRF). This thrilling event marks the second round of the festival,with the streets of Chennai transformed into a high-speed racing circuit. Spectators will witness drivers zoom past some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Victory War Memorial,Swami Sivananda Salai along the Cooum River, and Kamarajar Salai near Marina Beach, with the race culminating at the historic Napier Bridge.
A New Racing Circuit in the Heart of Chennai The circuit, designed around the bustling Island Grounds, promises to be a challenge for even the most skilled drivers. With 19 sharp turns and blisteringly fast straights, the Chennai Formula Racing Circuit is set to test the mettle of drivers across multiple categories. Free practice and qualifying sessions will take place on Saturday, giving racers a chance to master the demanding course ahead of the main event.
The event will feature three key categories:
- Indian Racing League (IRL), a high-stakes contest between six city-based teams
- The Formula 4 Indian Championship (F4IC), featuring future stars of racing
- The JK Formula LGB4 Class, part of the prestigious 29th JK Tyre-FMSCI Indian National Racing

Among the standout drivers, Chethan Korada, the first Asian to win a race using prosthetic feet, and Nikhil Bohra, a racer with experience in European F4 circuits, will be thrilling the crowd with their exceptional skills and inspiring stories.
